For our first #fridayintroductions on the brand new blog- I thought since we love love stories so much around here we would share our story! I think it may be fun to take a trip down memory lane and share our very first adventure. The day that started off as a "photo safari" with a (cute) friend and ended with my very last first kiss.
We didn't travel too far for this first adventure. Only 30 minutes down the road from where I was attending photography school and Dave had just graduated a few months before, to a near by college campus- UNCG. I think the plan was originally to hang out downtown Greensboro and be photonerds (wander around and take pictures). But somehow instead we ended up helping a classmate and teacher with a project that landed us at the Radio Station of UNCG. By the time we finished- it was way past the magic hour of pretty light but we discovered that a band, Dawn Chorus, was about to play a set for the radio- so we stuck around to hear them out. Truth be told I was excited about how this was all playing out... I had had a crush on Dave for a little bit now. We had gone on a few "photo safaris" together and with friends and I had no idea how he felt about me. But while listening to Dawn Chorus (amazing by the way) in that little radio station- I discovered that I was not alone in my feelings. It was all so very innocent and middle schoolish but I love it being part of our story. But while sitting there our arms slowly got closer and closer on the chair until one of us (I honestly can't remember who) reached over and grabbed the others hand. And right then and there- it all started and we have been together ever since. We spent the rest of the evening wandering around the campus of UNCG- talking, comparing stories about how long we had liked each other, playing on the swings and sitting by the fountains. And the evening ended with my very last first kiss!
Our dating anniversary is 9.14.2008 and last year I thought it would be fun for us to dress up and recreate our first date! Our good friend, Christine of Christine Rucker Photography, tagged along with us and helped us recreate that evening 9 years ago. Unfortunately for her (or fortunately), we do not know how to act right in front of the camera (which is why we are usually behind it)- but I love these photos and the memories that go along with it!
"We are all a little weird and life's a little weird,
and when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours,
we join up with them and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." - Dr Seuss
Love you Dave!! Thanks for sharing this crazy thing called life with me!!
